Metron Marker™
Permanent Ink
Permanent ink is a water based, flexible, non-conductive, and water-resistant ink that may be applied from our Metron Marker pen to almost any surface, including Teflon, and even where an oily film is present. Adhesion will, of course, vary with the surface to which it is applied. Waterproof, non-toxic, and flexible, with some solvent resistance, Permanent ink is used in electronics, medical, aerospace, communications, museums, horticulture, and various other industries.
Permanent ink is also used as a Torque Seal, vibration proofing, or for tamper proofing.
Permanent ink is available in Red (P1), Green (P2), Orange (P3), Blue (P4),Yellow (P5), Brown (P6), Violet (P7), Grey (P8), Black (P9), White (P10), Gold (P11), Silver (P12)and Transparent (P13), and HOT PINK (P14). Our Transparent Ink (Metron Marker Transflour) fluoresces blue under Ultraviolet light and comes standard in Micro-tip. Available in Standard-tip and Micro-tip (Gold and Silver not available in Micro-tip).

Why Choose Metron Markers™
Long-Lasting Shelf Life
The shelf life of a Metron Marker is virtually indefinite when properly stored. Even if thickened over time, the viscosity can be easily restored with a drop of water.
Environmentally Friendly
RoHS and REACH compliant, our water-based formulations prioritize both user safety and environmental responsibility, reducing atmospheric contamination.
Intentional design
Withstands temperatures up to 350 degrees Fahrenheit without discoloring, making it ideal for applications exposed to heat or baking processes.
Made with care
With three different needle options, Metron Markers deliver unparalleled precision. The microtip needle can produce over 25,000 dots with exceptional detail for the most demanding applications.
A team with a goal
Used across multiple industries from aerospace to electronics, our markers work on virtually any surface and are available in a wide range of colors and formulations to meet your specific needs.
Make Your MARK with Precision
The Metron Marker™ line of products includes Metron Marker pens, pints, gallons, and air dispensed ink syringes. Most colors and formulas are available in Standard-tip, Micro-tip or Long-tip needles.
Available colors include: Red, Green, Orange, Blue, Yellow, Brown, Violet, Grey, Black, White, Gold, Silver, and Transparent – Not all colors available in all formulas.

Metron Marker™ Features
The Needle
There are three different size needles available:
- Standard needle: 1" in length and has an orifice of 0.031". It has an output of approximately 12,000 dots.
- Microtip needle (M): 1" in length and has an orifice of 0.013". It dispenses over 25,000 dots. For the smallest dot or for fine lettering the microtip is easier to use.
- Long tip needle (L): 3.25" in length with an orifice of 0.031". The long tip needle is useful in hard to reach places.
The Pen
With the cap on, shake the pen for 10 or 15 seconds to activate the ink flow. Pull off the cap and, with the pen in marking position, give it a little squeeze. This is how you feed and control the ink.
For a little dot, a little squeeze; For a continuous line, a continuous squeeze. To do lettering, just keep the tip of the needle wet and draw the lines. When you release the finger pressure, the pen will suck the ink out of the needle point.
Ink Formulations
RoHS compliant, flexible, non-toxic, and non-staining. Most of these inks use water as a base carrier instead of solvents, so they do not contribute to atmospheric contamination.
Permanent Ink
For precision marking on virtually any surface with long-lasting results, Permanent ink is a water based, flexible, non-conductive, water-resistant, and has good solvent resistance. Permanent ink is used as a Torque Seal, vibration proofing, and for tamper proofing.
Removable Ink
Removable ink provides clear, visible marks that can be removed when no longer needed. It can be removed with various methods, including friction, water, or solvents.
Solvent Resistant Ink
Designed to withstand exposure to common solvents, our solvent resistant ink is ideal for applications where marked components will come into contact with cleaning agents or other solvents.
Aquaclean Ink
Our Aquaclean ink is specially formulated to be easily cleaned with water. It provides excellent visibility while being environmentally friendly and easy to remove when needed.
Solvent Washoff Ink
This specialty ink can be removed with appropriate solvents, making it ideal for applications where water cleaning is not suitable but marks still need to be removable.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Removable Ink formula leave a stain once removed?
No — once removed, it leaves no bleed, residue, or stain.
Where can I find a Safety Data Sheet (SDS)?
SDS documents are available on the company’s website.
Are there instructions on how to use a Metron Marker?
Yes — see the "Metron Marker How to Use Guide" on the website.
Will the mark remain if the ink is baked?
Yes — it withstands temperatures up to 350 °F before discoloring.
How much ink is in a Metron Marker?
Approximately 6 ml; standard tip yields ~12,000 dots, microtip ~25,000 dots.
Are custom colors available?
Yes — custom colors available upon minimum-order requirement; contact Sales.
Can Metron Markers be used for torque striping?
Yes — Permanent Ink formula is used extensively for torque sealing and striping.
Are the markers available empty (not prefilled)?
Yes — Empty Pens available in Standard (EP), Long-tip (EPL) or Microtip (EPM) options.
Which is the torque seal marker?
The Permanent Ink formula is used as a torque seal and for torque striping.
What solder flux formulas are available?
RMA, No-Clean, and Water Clean flux formulas are prefilled in markers.
How is the Solvent Resistant formula removed?
Easily removed with hot water.
What is the shelf-life of a Metron Marker?
Nearly indefinite if stored airtight and moisture-proof. Ink may thicken in ~3 months if not stored properly. Moisture can be restored with a drop of water in cap depression, shaking, then using.
Are the solder flux pens usable while soldering on hot surfaces?
Yes — stainless-steel tips allow continuous dispensing under heat; felt-tip pens will burn or clog.
How is the fluid dispensed?
By finger pressure: shake for 10–15 seconds, remove cap, squeeze gently for dots/lines, keep tip wet for lettering.
Is ink available in bulk?
Yes — offered in pints, gallons, or 5-gallon containers of bulk ink.
Are Metron Markers refillable?
Designed as disposable, but some users refill using bulk ink.
How long does it take for the ink to dry?
Depends on volume, ambient conditions, and ink formula — from ~20 seconds to a few minutes; continues to harden up to one week.
What colors are available?
Up to 13 colors are available; Permanent Ink formula supports full 13-color range.
What tips are available?
Standard Tip (1″ length, 0.031″ orifice), Long-tip (3″ length, 0.031″ orifice), and Microtip (1″ length, 0.013″ orifice).
How does one use the clean-out wire?
Remove cap, insert wire into needle cannula, slide fully, remove — dislodges clogs.
How to prevent clogging?
Clean with wire after use, cap the pen, and store upright with tip up.
