Metron Marker FAQ

Does the Removable Ink formula leave a stain once removed?

No — once removed, it leaves no bleed, residue, or stain.

Where can I find a Safety Data Sheet (SDS)?

SDS documents are available on the company’s website.

Are there instructions on how to use a Metron Marker?

Yes — see the "Metron Marker How to Use Guide" on the website.

Will the mark remain if the ink is baked?

Yes — it withstands temperatures up to 350 °F before discoloring.

How much ink is in a Metron Marker?

Approximately 6 ml; standard tip yields ~12,000 dots, microtip ~25,000 dots.

Are custom colors available?

Yes — custom colors available upon minimum-order requirement; contact Sales.

Can Metron Markers be used for torque striping?

Yes — Permanent Ink formula is used extensively for torque sealing and striping.

Are the markers available empty (not prefilled)?

Yes — Empty Pens available in Standard (EP), Long-tip (EPL) or Microtip (EPM) options.

Which is the torque seal marker?

The Permanent Ink formula is used as a torque seal and for torque striping.

What solder flux formulas are available?

RMA, No-Clean, and Water Clean flux formulas are prefilled in markers.

How is the Solvent Resistant formula removed?

Easily removed with hot water.

What is the shelf-life of a Metron Marker?

Nearly indefinite if stored airtight and moisture-proof. Ink may thicken in ~3 months if not stored properly. Moisture can be restored with a drop of water in cap depression, shaking, then using.

Are the solder flux pens usable while soldering on hot surfaces?

Yes — stainless-steel tips allow continuous dispensing under heat; felt-tip pens will burn or clog.

How is the fluid dispensed?

By finger pressure: shake for 10–15 seconds, remove cap, squeeze gently for dots/lines, keep tip wet for lettering.

Is ink available in bulk?

Yes — offered in pints, gallons, or 5-gallon containers of bulk ink.

Are Metron Markers refillable?

Designed as disposable, but some users refill using bulk ink.

How long does it take for the ink to dry?

Depends on volume, ambient conditions, and ink formula — from ~20 seconds to a few minutes; continues to harden up to one week.

What colors are available?

Up to 13 colors are available; Permanent Ink formula supports full 13-color range.

What tips are available?

Standard Tip (1″ length, 0.031″ orifice), Long-tip (3″ length, 0.031″ orifice), and Microtip (1″ length, 0.013″ orifice).

How does one use the clean-out wire?

Remove cap, insert wire into needle cannula, slide fully, remove — dislodges clogs.

How to prevent clogging?

Clean with wire after use, cap the pen, and store upright with tip up.

How should a Metron Marker be stored?

Store your Metron Marker upright with the cap on after the needle tip has been cleaned out using the provided clean-out wire.

Metron MiniMirror FAQ

Are replacement mirrors available?

Metron MiniMirror replacement mirrors are available for mirrors ordered with an adjustable handle, the handles are reusable. MiniMirrors that come with a plastic handle do not have replacement mirrors available.

Are Metron MiniMirrors suitable for left-handed people?

Metron MiniMirrors can be used both right and left-handed.

What material are the mirrors made from?

The Metron MiniMirror is made from optically clear glass mirror.

What is the difference between the stainless-steel handle and the black handle?

The stainless-steel handle is ESD safe, medical grade stainless-steel, and is maintenance free. The black handle is made of tool-steel and is more economical than the stainless-steel handle.

What is the advantage of an adjustable handle over a fixed plastic handle?

The adjustable handle allows the mirror to be telescopic and allows the wire shank to be flexible or bendable, the shank on the adjustable handles is also stronger than the plastic handles and less prone to breakage.

Are the shanks bendable?

The stainless-steel wire shanks are flexible and bendable.

Are replacement mirrors interchangeable with the adjustable handles?

Yes, the replacement mirrors are interchangeable with the adjustable handles, except for the DM Dental Mirror line.

Do Metron MiniMirrors come in a set?

There is a 4-piece set available that comes with an interchangeable handle and one each of the MiniMirror M90S, M90T, and I84BGA. It is ESD safe and comes in an ESD safe box and packaging.

Are Metron MiniMirrors ESD safe?

Metron MiniMirrors with the stainless-steel handle are ESD safe.

What is the difference between the I84 and the I84BGA?

Metron MiniMirror I84 is a rectangular T style wide mirror. Metron MiniMirror I84BGA was designed to see the outer and inner rows of a BGA component, to do this one needs an opposing light opposite the MiniMirror to allow for inner row viewing, the BGA mirror has a felt cover on top of the mirror to block the opposing light from blinding the viewer, the light is focused only on the lower part of the BGA component where the light is needed to see the inner rows.

Is there a smaller version to the M90S?

Yes, the smaller version of the M90S is MiniMirror I82.
